Keeping Your Fans Running Smoothly For The Hot Days

The heat is on & will be getting hotter, & many of us will be using fans to keep us & our place cool, it is also more cost effective  than running the air conditioner BUT to keep them running in good condition we need to keep them clean.

No matter what type of fan we have such as floor, ceiling, window or table fan they must all be kept clean and dust free because if they are not dust will be taking over the room filling the air with dust when the fan is on.

Weekly dusting & cleaning of the fan with something soft, non abrasive & dry like pledge multi surface duster whose angled handle & all-around grabbing & trapping fibers work easily to navigate between crevices, casings & blades for optimal dust pickup.

If your fans have caked-on grime, we recommends wiping down their surfaces with an all-purpose cleaner.

CLEANING WITH LEMON JUICE

Keeping our home clean and healthy should not be a choice, it should be a habit. As we all know keeping it simple and toxic free can be beneficial to our health.

You can start with these tips:

 Cutting board

To remove stubborn food stains, cut in half and squeeze lemon on dirty surfaces. Rub the piece of lemon and let stand for 20 minutes before cleaning. Cutting boards were clean and free of bacteria. Generally, the lemon will work better on a cutting board made from wood or plastic.

Dishwashers

If you have dried-on food inside your dishwasher, remove it by rubbing with a slice of lemon. Then, wipe the dishwasher with a soft/micro fiber cloth and dry it with a clean one. You can also run the machine with the hottest water setting. This way, you will remove all the food particles which may be left in your dishwasher.

 Tableware

To remove fat from tableware such as plates and spoon, add a teaspoon of lemon juice on a detergent or dishwashing liquid. Then with a sponge as usual. Tableware become more clean, free of oil residue and feels rough.

Hands

When handling raw fish, fishy odor usually will stick to the hand. Rub your hands with lemon juice to neutralize the stench.

 Garbage Bins

We all know the bad odor coming from the kitchen garbage bins. To avoid situations like this, you have to put a few slices of lemon on the bottom of your kitchen garbage bins. The lemon will absorb the bad smell and it will disappear.

Clothes

In addition to whitening or bleaching detergent, there is a safer way to brighten the white clothes which turning yellow or dull. Add a half cup of fresh lemon juice to the liquid detergent, then use it to wash as usual. If you use a washing machine, pour the lemon juice when you start the washing process. Keep in mind, separate white and colored clothes so that the results are better.

10-Minute Organizing Makeovers

Tackle that clutter by spending 10 minutes to 30 minutes a day/weekends "power organizing." Here's how.

Every day, choose one task: Piled up bills, magazines, junk mails, a paper-strewn desktop, a messy drawer, a messy closet & the list goes on & on. Now set your timer for 10 or 30  minutes and sort, toss and organize until the buzzer sounds.

The goal isn't to finish the job in one session but to chip away at it in short, focused bursts known as "power organizing." Once you learn that, it won't be long before you notice dramatic results.

Keep Ziploc Brand Bags and Containers on hand while you work so you can stash clutter culprits like pens, toiletries, gloves, hats, etc.

Invite a friend to join you if that will keep you motivated so you can keep each other on track and swap daily progress reports.

Avoid distractions: no phone calls, e-mails or television!

Pennsylvania-based artist/author Barbara Lane calls this simple concept life changing. "I realized I could do anything for 10 minutes," she says. Nagging piles no longer hold her back. "I feel freer and lighter, and the creativity just flows now."

Tell us how you tackle your clutter OR if this 10 to 30 minute a day/weekends will work for you?

If this does not work for you or someone you know you can always give us a call @ 1 347 482 3841 or visit us @ http://www.britetouchcleaning.com today so we can get you organized

GETTING YOUR AC READY FOR SUMMER

Summer is coming......When was the last time you changed your AC filter?

By replacing your air conditioning filter regularly you improve the efficiency and life of your unit, saving you money in the long run. When you forget to change your filter every couple of months; dirt, dust and grime block the flow of air, forcing it to bypass the filter and carry dirt directly into the evaporator coil. Because the coil is the part of you’re AC unit that absorbs heat, you want to keep the coil clean to keep it functioning smoothly and to prevent your compressor and fans from failing. If you have pets like we do or someone in the household is a smoker and refuses to go outside to a smoke, it is best to change the filter more frequently. Regular filter changes and yearly servicing will help your home stay cleaner and save you some extra cash.

Types Of Air Conditioning Filters & Their Longevity

  • Pleated Filters – These are the most common filters used. They vary in their efficiency rates (anywhere from 10%-60%). These types of filters should be changed every 3 months.
  • Electrostatic Filters – These filters give you great value for their efficiency rates. They can be costly (two to three times more than a pleated filter), but they can be reused. You merely rinse them with water, and place them back where they came from.
  • Electronic Filters – These filters are not very efficient at all. In fact, they’ll never get dirty enough to affect airflow, but they do get dirty enough to become inefficient. They are cleaned by removing the electronic cells and soaking them in a special HVAC cleanser. Once dried, they can be reused.
  • HEPA Filters – These filters are by far the most expensive; however, they will keep your air cleaner than any other type of filter. With that in mind, these filters need to be changed every month to maintain their efficiency, as they become plugged very quickly.
  • Economy Panel Filters – These filters can be bought at your local hardware stores in packs of four. They are very inexpensive, and as such, they are extremely inefficient. In fact, most HVAC experts will tell you to steer clear of these filters altogether. Since they are not good at collecting dust, that dust travels where it shouldn’t go…your evaporator coil. Ultimately, you will end up spending more having your evaporator coil cleaned (which it would need to be) than you would have if you bought the proper filters…not to mention the wear and tear on your HVAC equipment.
